Microsoft finally unveiled Kinect at their E3 2010 conference yesterday. Kinect is their XBOX 360 motion-based answer to the Nintendo Wii. Some of the games announced at the press conference included:
- Dance Central
- Kinectimals
- Kinect Sports
- Kinect Joyride
- Your Shape: Fitness Evolved
- Kinect Adventures
- Zumba Fitness
- Sonic Freeriders
- Forza 3
- Metal Gear Solid Rising Sword Fighting
- Kingdom
While Kinect shows a lot of promise, in my opinion, Microsoft didn’t showcase a triple A title that can show what can be done with this new technology. Your Shape: Fitness Evolved did show off how your virtual self can be used within a game to control the menus, but there were no shooters, adventure, or RPG games to showoff how developers can use this tech to their advantage. Overall, the games aren’t too bad. Kinect Sports is Rare’s take on Wii Sports and knowing Rare they will take the concept a step further and with tight gameplay. Kinect is scheduled to be released this November 4th with rumors flying around that it will cost $149.
