Mortal Kombat Trilogy for the NES Title Screen

If you got a knack for the darker side of gaming, you’ll be hard-pressed to find something more rare or butt-crazy than Mortal Kombat Trilogy for the NES. This game is based on a hacked ROM created by Hosekn of USA Co, Ltd that looks and plays like you expect a game of this nature to play: like shit. You are limited enough as is, playing with the NES controller’s two buttons and digital pad, so add on top of that terrible animation and jerky gameplay controls and you are in for a treat.

Papercraft Goomba

Sebastian Zych designed this gorgeous papercraft Goomba from Nintendo 64 and shared the model from all to download and have fun with at the Cut Score Fold and Glue web site. We haven’t tried it ourselves yet (we will!), but you should give it a go and send us pictures to see how handy you are with scissors and glue.

A Nostalgic Feeling

Nostalgic Game Feeling: F-Zero

Today was a gorgeous cool day in Miami. There was nay a cloud in the sky and the day had a nectarous smell to it. Interestingly, almost instantly as I got in my car on the drive to my office, the aroma triggered a response from the depth of my assiduous brain where my child hood memories of playing F-Zero rested. I didn’t just remember being a kid, driving my tomato-green car I felt I was there: the scent, the freedom, the joy I felt being a young kid having the time of my life. It was inspiring.

This got me thinking: Have you had one of these experiences? What triggered it?

Video Game Nail Art

Some girls wear video game t-shirts to show their video game love. Other girls, are a little more serious about how they show their addiction to video games — they decide to paint their love on their nails. We searched the net for some serious video game nail art and these are our findings in no particular order.

Feel free to hit us up in our comment section if you have any finds that we did not include. We’d love to have a growing library video game nail art photographs.

Video Game Condoms

Video Game Condom Showcase

Just because we are game nerds doesn’t mean we have lame sex lives. Ben Marsh knows what’s up, so the 21 year old video communication student created this for-fun campaign for Play Condoms. Think condom packaging with video game inspired graphics. Got a huge penis? Forget the Magnum XXL, buy yourself a Donkey Shlong. The whole campaign is genius with little details like Game Over On: August 2012 for the condom expiration date and condom names like “Bone Zone 2″, “Sextris” and “The Long End of Zelda”.

Video Game Condoms: Donkey Shlong

Hey even video game nerds like us need a full release.

I recently watched Universal Picture’s Scott Pilgrim Vs The World and only one word comes to mind, EPIC! The movie is based off of Bryan Lee O’Malley’s comic book series where Scott Pilgrim is going after the love of his life, Ramona Flowers. Little does he know he has to fight her 7 evil exes to win her over. The movie is filled with tons of video game references and sound effects which any gamer is going to love. The movie which was directed by Edgar Wright (of Hot Fuzz fame) was very well made and is actually one of my favorite movies I’ve seen this year. Scott Pilgrim, Kim Pine, Wallace Wells, and Julie Powers had me laughing the whole way through. Todd Ingram also had one of the koolest powers of all the evil exes. I won’t spill any more details on the movie but I definitely recommend checking it out this August 13th. Also check out the Scott Pilgrim Vs The World video game which was just released yesterday on the Playstation Network and on August 25th on the Xbox Live Network.

EVO Tournament Sticks: Pocket Fighter

If you are a true fighting game fan you were at this year’s EVO competition in Las Vegas. If you were a true HARDCORE fighting game fan, you played at the competition with a custom-designed fighting game stick. Our very own Daniel Lopez was a witness first-hand to the plethora of these deliciously-designed fighting game controllers and he snapped some pictures for us to share with you our readers. There is an even an insanely cool fighting game stick featuring the cast of Pocket Fighters with flashing lights (video below). We would like to give credit to the owners of each of these, so if you happen to be one of them, email us by sonic booming our contact button above.

Game Over Rap (Super Mario Bros. Remix)

I’m loving this rap by Levar Allen called Game Over (Super Mario Bros. Remix) featuring Super Mario Bros beats and massive Super Mario Bros references in the lyrics.

Watch the video on YouTube or download the song completely free.

LED Mario and Goomba

I’m in love with the LED wall concept created by Kenny. The basic idea is they provide a grid of pixels and anyone on the web can color it in. The artwork is then transferred to a live LED wall that displays the artwork. So what does this have to do with games? If you look at the archive of submissions past the dicks and tits, you’ll find a nice collection of video game artwork like the above Mario and Goomba and below the Team Fortress Sentry. Some nice rare finds to be sure.

Halo 2600

Atari Halo 2600

When playing Halo on an Xbox 360 just isn’t enough, you can now turn to the 2600. The company Code Mystics has created a fun little distraction called Halo 2600 that mimics the look and feel of an Atari 2600 game based in the Halo universe. You control Master Chief as he makes his way through a level filled with the Covenant.

Play the game here.
