Team Shell Shocked crafted this gigantic Koopa Troopa flying machine for this year’s Red Bull Flugtag event at Miami Bayfront Park. The team is comprised of 5 friends from Jacksonville, Florida.

This year’s South Florida Supercon 2010 totally blew me away. There were more events, more guests, more vendors, more of everything! My only 2 gripes were that the vendor area closed way too early and that the vender area didn’t seem as organized as last year. Other than that it was a spectacular event. Tons of more people cosplayed and there was so much to see that it was kind of overwhelming. The video game area was lacking a bit this year as well. Seeing how E3 was just a week before Supercon I’m pretty certain many of the people responsible for the awesome setup last year were still recovering from E3.

The Supercon Championship Wrestling was definitely the highlight of the show in my opinion! With Cosplayers wrestling as Cobra Commander, Batman, Chun-li, The Joker, and even King Hippo from Punch-Out! With only a short time to check out the vendor floor I wasn’t able to check out everything this year. Maybe next year? The 3000 Brigade Super Smash Bros. Super Show was pretty good as well but it’ll never outdo last years. Can’t wait for next years event!

Community Vibes #5

First of all, I have to admit this was probably the first time (that I can remember) that I attended one of Gamertag Radio’s Community Vibe events. At the same time, I have to admit I was pretty impressed with their 5th outing. It was held at the very swanky Ecco Pizza Lounge in Downtown, Miami. The setup included many games from the past such as Battletoads, Streets of Rage, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time to modern hits such as Dante’s Inferno, Street Fighter 4, and of course RockBand 2. The turn out was pretty dramatic considering it was a Super Bowl weekend in Miami.

Community Vibes #5 is impressive as it succeeds in gathering gamers in the community to come together and do what they love best: play video games. If you’ve ever lived in South Florida you know it has lacked a community forever. 2kGames and EA Sports provided free swag such as a Bioshock Little Sister figurine to the first 1,000 attending and also some Madden Xbox 360 Faceplates. I’m hoping to attend more Gamertag Radio events in the future and so should you!
